The actress Megan Fox, whose new movie "Jennifer's Body," the first film she actually carries, opens today, is doing something very interesting. The young woman is prone to making colorful, salacious, oftentimes outrageous comments to the press, as a sampling of the more printable ones above shows. And yet, you don't see nude photos of her anywhere, she's not awaiting trial for drunk driving or stealing jewelry, you never hear about her actual relationships, you don't even see tabloid shots of her getting sloshed in some nightclub. In fact, Fox's showbiz dossier is remarkably controversy-free. The headline of this blog entry reads "Hot Megan Fox gossip!", but that was just to get your attention, sorry, because while Fox may be hot, she has largely managed to steer clear of the rumor mill. What that tells me is this young woman is more clever than a lot of people may give her credit for. Is she a good actress? It's hard to tell at this point. The two "Transformers" movies she's appeared in weren't exactly acting showcases, and "Jennifer's Body" is just a mediocre horror film. Don't look for her at the Oscars -- at least as a nominee -- anytime soon, if ever.
But Fox is proving highly adept at getting herself talked about, and in just the right way for the business she's in. She's got a big mouth, clearly, but her actions speak more softly. That didn't stop some crew members from the "Transformers" sequel from badmouthing her, complaining in a letter that she "shows little interest in the crew members around her. We work to make her look good in every way, but she's absolutely never appreciative of anyone's hard work."
